THE DECATUR COUNTY SPRING GARDEN EXHIBITION 2004
March 26, 27, and 28, 2004
PRESENTED BY THE DECATUR COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
STAGING AND MAINTENANCE OF ALL EXHIBITS
1.
All entries must include fresh or dried plant material. All exhibits must be
kept in show condition. Plant material
must be kept fresh. Unsightly or
wilted plant material must be replaced.
2. Wild-collected plants of endangered and threatened species are strictly
forbidden. It is the responsibility of the
exhibitor to make sure these
plants are not on exhibit. Endangered or threatened species are designated
on the
United States List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants.
3. Exhibitors will water their plant material prior to bringing it into the
show hall. Exhibitors are responsible for
watering their own exhibits but
are cautioned not to over water, which will cause seepage into the aisles.
There is
no way to remove excess water.
4. Pool and fountain liners must be constructed of material of sufficient
strength to prevent seepage.
5. No live animals are permitted in exhibits without prior approval. No
taxidermy is permitted.
6. All maintenance must be completed by 10:00 a.m. Friday, 10:00 a.m.
Saturday and 1:00 p.m. Sunday. Doors will
open at 10:00 on Friday, 10:00
a.m. Saturday, and 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
7. The show management may remove an exhibit at any time if deemed
necessary. It reserves the right to reject any
exhibit if it is
objectionable in any way or requires an excessive amount of space.
Management reserves the right
to remove an exhibitor who displays unethical
conduct.
INSTALLATION
8. Hours of installation for gardens are:
Wednesday March 24th 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Thursday March 25th 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Judging will begin once doors open at 10:00 p.m. on Friday. Installations
not complete by 10:00 a.m. on Friday
will not be included in the judging for
awards.
ACCESS, PASSES AND PARKING
9. Complete directions about access to the show, parking for exhibitors and
the public, and the location of doors for
entries are enclosed. Free parking.
10. Exhibitor badges are limited to four (4) per garden.
SIGNS
11. Please Include a sign for your exhibit with the name of designer, title
of the garden and suppliers.
SALES AND ADVERTISING MATERIAL
12. Exhibitors should prepare and distribute descriptive pamphlets about
their exhibits.
JUDGING AND AWARDS
13. Decisions of the judges are final.
NOMENCLATURE
14. All plants must be correctly labeled. Points are given by judges for
legibility and unobtrusiveness of labels.
15. Exhibitors' plant lists, with botanical and common names (including all
plants used in the exhibits), must be submitted To The Chamber by January
15th, 2004 So that we may include the information in our advertising.
REMOVAL OF EXHIBITS
16. Nothing may be removed from exhibits during the show except with the
approval of the management or at specific times stipulated.
17. No boxes or other removal containers are permitted in exhibit hall until
6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 28th. Nothing may be dismantled before 6:00 p.m.
18. Exhibitors are responsible for their exhibits on Sunday, March 28th from
6:00 p.m. until removal.
19. All exhibitors and helpers in the hall must wear appropriate name badge
during the dismantling period. This may be obtained from the show
management.
20. Exhibitors are responsible for the complete removal of their exhibits.
Anything left after Monday, March 29th at 8:00 pm may be discarded.
SAFETY
21. All material used in exhibits must comply to State Fire codes.
22. Exhibitors must guard against leaks and over watering.
23. Smoking is prohibited in the exhibit hall.
24. Any public access to gardens must meet building code and ADA
specifications.
DAMAGES
25. Exhibitors who damage any part of the hall will be charged with repairs.
LIABILITY
26. Reasonable care will be taken to prevent loss or damage to the exhibits
but in no event will the The Decatur County Chamber Of Commerce, The Decatur
County Fairgrounds or Decatur County Government, be held responsible for any
injury or loss that may occur. Valuables used in exhibits should be insured
by exhibitors.
27. Limitation of management's liability. Exhibitor will make no claim
against The Decatur County Chamber Of Commerce, The Decatur County
Fairgrounds or Decatur County Government, and agrees that management shall
not be liable for any injury or loss or damage to exhibitor, or to its
employees, agents, property and business caused by: (a) acts or omissions of
any contractors (or employees or agents of such contractors ) retained by
management to perform services in connection with the show, or (b) fire,
theft, destruction, or any occurrence not resulting from intentional
misconduct on the part of management (or its employees acting in the scope
of employment), whether occurring during show hours or the periods
designated for installation, maintenance, and removal of exhibits and
notwithstanding any negligence of management connected therewith.
27. Indemnification for Exhibitors' acts. Exhibitor agrees to indemnify and
save harmless The Decatur County Chamber Of Commerce, The Decatur County
Fairgrounds or Decatur County Government, and each of them from any and all
claims of liability made by anyone for any loss, injury, or damage to person
or property, including death, arising out of the conduct of exhibitor or its
employees or agents, and agrees to defend same against any such claims or
liabilities and to reimburse them for all expenses including costs of
settlement, incurred in connection therewith.
28. By entering an exhibit in the show, the exhibitor agrees to abide by and
be governed by the conditions set forth in the foregoing rules.
GENERAL
29. All attendants at exhibits must be neatly attired, wear shoes and
conduct themselves in a quiet and orderly manner. Each garden is encouraged
to design into their display a area that will hold at least one stool for
the Garden Master to sit periodically.
30. Management reserves the right to limit entries and display thereof, to
facilities available.
AMENDMENTS
31. Management reserves the final, absolute right to interpret these rules
and regulations. And, reserves the right to amend or add to these rules, as,
in its judgment, as may be deemed advisable.
