Introduction

The day started off with breakfast served in the cafeteria of Parsons Elementary School. Mrs. Renae Lomax, the principal of the school was on hand to give us a tour of each classroom.

Renae is shown here with the leadership class explaining the various programs going on at Parsons Elementary.  If you have preschool children you should call and find out about the computers classes they offer at night to prepare young ones for school.

Our next stop was at the Decatur County Middle School.  Chris Villaflor is the principal at the middle school.  He gave us a tour and we especially enjoyed Marty Willis' class on computer technology that is offered to eighth grade students.

Here we are shown with Principal Robert Myracle at Decatur County Riverside High School.  We were very impressed with the high school.  It is a relatively new building that our county is proud to have.  We were treated to lunch while touring the school.

After our tour of the high school we met in the Library of the Decatur County Riverside High School with Carol Vestal of the Decatur County Board of Education.  She explained how the Board of Education interacts with the schools and the public at large.

Here we are shown with Decaturville Elementary School Principal, Danny Adkisson.  Danny gave us a tour of the school, which is the oldest school in our system.  The gym was under renovation and they are excited about future improvements that are soon to be underway. The special education department is certainly something to be proud of and the children were getting lots of one-on-one attention.

We finished our day touring the Adult Education Center which is located behind the Decaturville Elementary School.  Mrs. Rebecca Webb was on hand to explain the programs that they offer. Any adult with the desire to further their education or study for the G.E.D. would be highly encouraged to call Mrs. Webb.
